We had the unique oppotunity to visit Venice Louisiana this weekend, during what will turn out to be historical moment. The Deepwater Horizon oil spill accident will change this area forever.
You can actually feel the heartbeat of nature here. The weather delivers a number of changes during each day during this time of year. In a matter of minutes, we experienced rain, hail, wind, thunder and lightning. With every change in atmospheric condition comes a different natural rythym, after one rain event we witnessed a gathering of herons that any photographer could only dream of finding in one spot. When you take a moment to relax and take it all in, the human senses are overwhelmed by the imagery, sounds and smells of these amazing surroundings. You can only hope that this ecosystem is not disturbed by the continuing spillage of oil in the Gulf of Mexico. My heart goes out to the people who live and love this area.
